Dodge Charger: Eight-Speed Automatic Transmission / Transmission Limp Home Mode
Transmission function is monitored electronically for abnormal conditions. If
a condition is detected that could result in transmission damage, Transmission Limp
Home Mode is activated. In this mode, the transmission may operate only in certain
gears, or may not shift at all. Vehicle performance may be severely degraded and
the engine may stall. In some situations, the transmission may not re-engage if
the engine is turned off and restarted. The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) may
be illuminated. A message in the instrument cluster will inform the driver of the
more serious conditions, and indicate what actions may be necessary.
https://ecufix.info In the event of a momentary problem, the transmission can be reset to regain
all forward gears by performing the following steps:
NOTE:
In cases where the instrument cluster message indicates the transmission may
not re-engage after engine shutdown, perform this procedure only in a desired location
(preferably, at an authorized dealer).
- Stop the vehicle.
- Shift the transmission into PARK, if possible. If not, shift the transmission
to NEUTRAL.
- Push and hold the ignition switch until the engine turns off.
- Wait approximately 30 seconds.
- Restart the engine.
- Shift into the desired gear range. If the problem is no longer detected,
the transmission will return to normal operation.
NOTE:
Even if the transmission can be reset, we recommend that you visit an authorized
dealer at your earliest possible convenience. An autho- rized dealer has diagnostic
equipment to assess the condition of your transmission. If the transmission cannot
be reset, authorized dealer service is required.
Do not press the accelerator pedal when shifting out of PARK (P) or NEUTRAL (N).
NOTE:
After selecting any gear range, wait a moment to allow the selected gear to engage
before accelerating...
AutoStick is a driver-interactive transmission feature providing manual shift
control, giving you more control of the vehicle. AutoStick allows you to maximize
engine braking, eliminate undesirable upshifts and downshifts, and improve overall
vehicle performance...

Children who are large enough to wear the shoulder belt comfortably, and whose
legs are long enough to bend over the front of the seat when their back is against
the seatback, should use the seat belt in a rear seat. Use this simple 5-step test
to decide whether the child can use the vehicle’s seat belt alone:
Can the child sit all the way back against the back of the vehicle seat?
Do the child’s knees bend comfortably over the front of the vehicle seat
– while the child is still sitting all the way back?
Does the shoulder belt cross the child’s shoulder between the neck and arm?
Is the lap part of the belt as low as possible, touching the child’s thighs
and not the stomach?
Can the child stay seated like this for the whole trip?
If the answer to any of these questions was “no,” then the child still needs
to use a booster seat in this vehicle...
